After receiving my master’s degree in organic chemistry from Calcutta University I joined the research group of Dr. Suhrit Ghosh at Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, Kolkata, where I worked under the broad umbrella of supramolecular and polymer chemistry and obtained my Ph.D. in 2014. The topic of my doctoral thesis was hydrogen-bonding induced assembly of aromatic donor-acceptor gelators and chromophore-conjugated amphiphilic macromolecules. In the same year, I was awarded the Alexander von Humboldt postdoctoral fellowship and moved to Germany where I worked with Prof. Patrick Theato at the Institute for Technical and Macromolecular Chemistry, University of Hamburg. There I developed a new methodology for post-polymerization modification based on organocatalytic trans-esterification and studied precise polymer assembly by directional non-covalent interaction. Since April 2016, I joined the group of Prof. E. W. Meijer. My current research is focused on making precisely defined monodispersed amphiphilic block copolymers with discrete block length.
